Wedding Gown Lengths Explained

Cocktail: There are several definitions of the cocktail-length gown, but typically cocktail-length refers to a dress that falls to knee-length, just above, or just below.

 

Tea: A tea-length gown falls below the knee but above the ankle, most commonly mid-calf.

 

Ballet: Ballet-length dresses fall just above the ankle.

 

Floor: Fairly obvious!

Train Lengths Explained

Sweep: A sweep-length train just sweeps the floor, with about 6 inches on the ground.

 

Chapel: Chapel-length trains extend about 12-18 inches on the ground.

 

Cathedral: Cathedral-length trains extend a yard or more.
